Our team is growing! The Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the College of Medicine is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead research activities focused on understanding immune responses to cancer and chronic virus infection with significant emphasis on T cell differentiation and exhaustion. This full-time position involves working both independently and in a team environment with other members of the Hope lab to conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments with preclinical mouse models and primary patient samples.


Essential Functions

·      Experimental design and execution of in vivo mouse models of cancer and infection including ex vivoanalysis of immune cell responses.

·      Experimental design and execution of in vitro experiments with mouse and human primary cells.

·      Support general laboratory operations.

·      Perform general duties in support of safe and efficient laboratory operation.

·      Maintain excellent record keeping of all duties performed in association with the laboratory.

·      Preparation of text and figures for grants and manuscripts.

 

Required Qualifications

·      PhD in Immunology or a related field with relevant research experience.

·      Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish research projects. 

·      Willingness to learn new techniques. 

·      Proficiency with standard computer programs (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required. 

·      Ability to maintain professional communication and interpersonal skills with all team members.

 

Preferred Qualifications

· Previous experience with standard assays studying immune cell responses (e.g. flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry, ELISA).

·      Previous experience with standard molecular biology techniques.
