Current Team Members
Laura Cort, MS
Laura is a Research Instructor in the Hope lab and a member of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology in the College of Medicine. She received her BS and MS in Biomedical Sciences from Sheffield Hallam University. She has over 25 years of practical experience in the design and execution of immunological assays focused on understanding mechanisms of autoimmunity and immune responses to infection or cancer. In addition to running her own projects, she facilitates the management of the lab and training of new lab members.
Nivedita Biswas, PhD
Nivedita is postdoctoral associate in the Hope lab. She is a biomedical scientist with extensive experience in cancer immunotherapy and experimental design. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and a Master's in Microbiology. She has successfully led numerous research projects showcasing her expertise in T-cell immunology and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing. She is a dedicated science policy advocate, an avid reader, and fosters kittens in her free time.
Katie Hausman
Katie is a second year Master's student in the Cancer Biology program at Drexel University College of Medicine. She received her BS in Translational Biomedical Science from Rowan University in 2022. She is interested in pursuing a career as a research scientist in a small biotech company or pharmaceutical company. She hopes to continue working in the immuno-oncology field.
Maya Toib
Maya is an undergraduate student studying Biology at Drexel University. She is a research assistant in the Hope Lab. She recently transferred to Drexel University from Tel Aviv University where she completed her first two years of her undergraduate degree. Upon graduating from Drexel, she hopes to continue on to a career in medicine.
Daiana Markarian
Daiana is an undergraduate student studying Biological Sciences with concentrations in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, and Biochemistry. She is also minoring in Immune Engineering. Looking ahead, she plans to pursure graduate studies in Immunology and make impactful contributions to the field and the development of new cancer treatments.
Gustave Gottlieb
Gus is a second year medical student (M2) at Drexel University College of Medicine. He received his BS in Biochemistry at Binghamton University in 2022. He is currently interested in pursuing training in Hematology/Oncology specialties, which aligns with his interests in understanding biochemisty and molecular mechanisms of common diseases, including cancer development. He received a 2024 Drexel College of Medicine MSSRF to complete a fellowship in the Hope lab.
Ashley Saravia, MS
Ashley is a second-year medical student (M2) at Drexel University College of Medicine. She received her BS in Psychology at the University of Florida in 2019 and her MS in Biomedical Sciences at Barry University in 2021. She plans to pursue specialized training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
Numa Kamal
Numa is an undergraduate student at Drexel University in the College of Arts and Sciences and a STAR Scholar. She is completing her summer 2024 STAR Scholar research in the Hope Lab. Her post-graduate plans include pursuing a career in medicine.
